I'm such a 'Gleek'! Feature redhead:

There are so many incredible redheads out there, and I have really struggled with who to feature as my first redhead celeb...

...until I watched Glee tonight!  For anybody who hasn't seen Glee, this show is incredible.  If you like music and you've ever been to high school - you can relate.  The premise of the show is that Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is a Spanish teacher at the high school where he used to attend, and where he sang in the high school Glee Club.  He tries to revive the club which, while at first includes mostly misfits, evolves into a group where everybody can feel free to be themselves - and that involves not only the misfits, but Cheerleaders, Football players and bad-asses alike.

Mr. Schuester's current love interest on the show is Emma Pilsbury - the germaphobic guidance counselor who is currently dating a hunky dentist (played by John Stamos!).  Although I had a huge 13-year-old-girl crush on Uncle Jesse, I am totally rooting for Mr. Schuester in this one. Regardless of the outcome of their love triangle, I think it's pretty cool that they're both fighting over a redhead.
*Ms. Pilsbury is played by actress Jayma Mays.

Just for Redheads Beauty Products

If you are a redhead, then you know what I'm talking about when I say that wearing dark eye make-up is not a good idea.  With light complexion and red hair, having long black eyelashes makes no sense and often makes you look like Joan Jett when her make-up artist is on vacation.  Unfortunately, while wearing dark eye make-up can give redheads the coon-eye look; we still need to play up our eyes a little just like any other girl!

Just For Redheads was founded by Paula Pennypacker and her husband, Duane Abbajay - who, on his first date with his now wife, bluntly asked her about her dark eyelashes and commented on why they didn't suit her complexion.  Rather than being offended by the question, Paula decided to do something about it - eventually starting her own company.

You can order beauty products from http://www.justforredheads.com/ including treatments for fair skin, products specifically for red hair, and make-up specifically designed for people with light complexion and various shades of red hair.

Although I have not tried the entire line, I can tell you that Reba Mcentire **one of my all-time redhead heroes** endorses the company and uses it herself!  Of course anything that's good enough for Reba is good enough for me!  I have tried the 'Gingerbrown' colour of mascara, and haven't gone back to any other mascara since! It highlights my eyes without drawing too much attention to them or darkening them.

Easy to order online and totally worth it!  No more racoon eyes!

losing my blog virginity...

As we become more and more dependent on technology, blogging seems to become more and more relevant.  At first I was confused by the idea of blogs, then intrigued, and then actually interested.  I have always enjoyed writing and expressing myself, but I'm told that one of the first rules of blogging is to have an interesting topic.  That shouldn't be so hard, right? There are THOUSANDS of interesting topics, and I have lots of interests...

WRONG. In fact...finding a topic for a blog is kind of like applying for university for the first time: there are too many options, and I have too many interests to really narrow in on one specific subject.  If my mind were a map, it would be of a meandering road that goes to many places but doesn't necessarily end up anywhere.  Apparently to write anything that people will read, you need to have some sort of purpose.

I believe my purpose is to talk about the reality of being a young, redheaded woman in the 21st century.
The truth is that it can be tough sometimes...but it's a LOT of fun.
